You come to Soul Shrink to be healed。 You don’t expect to die。

Two years ago, Fran’s sister Jenna disappeared on a wellness retreat in Gozo that went terribly wrong。

Tom Wade, the now infamous man behind Soul Shrink Retreats, has just been released from prison after serving his sentence for the deaths of two people。 But he has never let on what happened to the third suspected victim: Jenna。

Determined to find out the truth, Fran books herself onto his upcoming retreat – the first since his release – and finds herself face to face with the man who might hold the key to her sister’s disappearance。 The only question is, will she escape the retreat alive? This book was so well done! It was perfect from start to finish。 The story was just the right amount of twisted to keep it interesting but not overwhelm the reader。

The last thing you would expect when you are on a wellness retreat, is the death of two guests and the disappearance of another。 But this is the case at Soul Shrink Retreats where wanting to heal yourself could just well cost you your life in this gripping psychological thriller from C。L。 Taylor。I enjoyed the mystery of this tale and was by Fran’s side in her attempt in trying to find out what happened to her sister Jenna, who disappeared from the retreat without a trace。 Like her family, I want The last thing you would expect when you are on a wellness retreat, is the death of two guests and the disappearance of another。 But this is the case at Soul Shrink Retreats where wanting to heal yourself could just well cost you your life in this gripping psychological thriller from C。L。 Taylor。I enjoyed the mystery of this tale and was by Fran’s side in her attempt in trying to find out what happened to her sister Jenna, who disappeared from the retreat without a trace。 Like her family, I wanted answers and I was compelled to keep reading until I got them! What I really like the most about C。L。 Taylor’s books is they are always very character driven, which is also the case with this book。 I enjoyed the narrative from the points of view of three of the characters, Jenna, Fran and Kate (Tom Wade’s wife) and their uniqueness。 Not all likeable, they are well developed, very well written and each bring the story to life。Her Last Holiday is a clever, slow burning tale that is full of suspense and some good twists。 Yes I admit that there were some moments that were out there and beggar belief, but this did not ruin my overall enjoyment of the book。 A solid psychological thriller that I found very entertaining。Thank you to C。L。Taylor, Avon Books and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Her Last Holiday, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I have read every CL Taylor book over the years, and there has been some amazingly gripping stories which is why I keep returning to her when she releases something new。This is why I was really disappointed with Her Last Holiday。 For one, the title compared to the actual plot makes zero sense。 I also found it increasingly hard to gel with any of the characters。 The storyline was all over the place and the outcome was really naff。 I’d recommend going for one of her earlier novels if you’re lookin I have read every CL Taylor book over the years, and there has been some amazingly gripping stories which is why I keep returning to her when she releases something new。This is why I was really disappointed with Her Last Holiday。 For one, the title compared to the actual plot makes zero sense。 I also found it increasingly hard to gel with any of the characters。 The storyline was all over the place and the outcome was really naff。 I’d recommend going for one of her earlier novels if you’re looking to sink your teeth into a gripping thriller by CL Taylor, you won’t find that here with this book。 。。。more

Fran's sister has been missing for two years。 Everyone is certain that Jenna is dead。 And self-help guru Tom Wade is sure to be responsible。 After all, he was charged in the deaths of two other people at the same retreat Jenna was attending when she disappeared。 But Tom has never confessed。 And now Tom is free。 And hosting another wellness retreat with the help of his wife, Kate。 And Fran's mom wants Fran to go undercover in hopes that she can finally learn what really happened。 From the start, Fran's sister has been missing for two years。 Everyone is certain that Jenna is dead。 And self-help guru Tom Wade is sure to be responsible。 After all, he was charged in the deaths of two other people at the same retreat Jenna was attending when she disappeared。 But Tom has never confessed。 And now Tom is free。 And hosting another wellness retreat with the help of his wife, Kate。 And Fran's mom wants Fran to go undercover in hopes that she can finally learn what really happened。 From the start, Fran is sure that they're on to her。 Especially when she struggles to keep to her scripted cover story。 But it's not until she starts to fear for her own life that she realizes just how dangerous this trip might turn out to be!Two women, two retreats two years apart! So yeah, it's clear from the start that there's something fishy about Tom Wade and his SoulShrink business, considering we know the man has been in prison for just over a year, but it's not immediately apparent exactly what the danger might be。 The book is split into two timelines: then, with Jenna's trip to Gozo, and now, which alternates between Fran's and Kate's perspectives。 In Jenna's timeline, the first hint that things are off occurs to the reader but not Jenna herself。 When she arrives, nail polish she didn't pack has spilled all over her clothes。 And that right there sets the tone for what readers can expect in her story。 It's a gray cloud of foreshadowing that looms over what's supposed to be a great opportunity for Jenna。 In the present timeline, though, we immediately learn there's trouble in paradise。 Kate has helped her husband build his business and she's determined to get it back up and running now that he's free。 But Tom has come out of prison changed。 It's apparent to the reader, though, that there have been issues between Tom and Kate for some time and his apprehension about getting back in the game sets her off pretty quickly。 Fran herself isn't meek, but she isn't one to stand out。 And while she'd already traveled to Gozo to look into Jenna's disappearance, she's not jumping at the opportunity to play detective at her mother's behest。 And yet, she does it anyway。 Because she feels guilty about her last interaction with her sister。 All of these threads are woven together as the story begins, drawing the reader into a plot that is as carefully built as a spider's web。 And as impossible to pull yourself out of, too!Her Last Holiday is an incredibly immersive read。 A perfect page turning thriller that explores family drama and the shady side of the self help industry。。。and that's just part of the story! 。。。more

I really enjoyed Her Last Holiday。 Another great story by CL Taylor, although I did find this story a bit unbelievable, however as per the norm when I’ve read her previous books the characters are great。

HER LAST HOLIDAY is about a murder that took place in a private retreat, with a handful of people, each of who have tiny pieces of information necessary to look at the big picture。 Another fast-paced thriller that flows effortlessly, and asks you for one thing only- observe and deduce。

Written from multiple points of view in present day and two years prior I tore through this book。 The suspense was there the whole way through which kept me turning the pages。 I did think the ending let the book down a bit simply because there was too much going on。 I can't really explain further without ruining the plot。 I definitely still recommend this read if you need a quick and intriguing storyline Written from multiple points of view in present day and two years prior I tore through this book。 The suspense was there the whole way through which kept me turning the pages。 I did think the ending let the book down a bit simply because there was too much going on。 I can't really explain further without ruining the plot。 I definitely still recommend this read if you need a quick and intriguing storyline 。。。more

This book follows 3 women: Jenna, who mysteriously disappeared following a wellness retreat at which 2 people died; Fran, her sister who is searching for her and Kate, who co ran the retreat with her therapist husband Tom。 I enjoyed the very different characters of the 3 women, with all their problems。 I did see a lot of the twists coming (maybe I've read too many psychological thrillers!) but I enjoyed the story and it kept me entertained to the end。 This book follows 3 women: Jenna, who mysteriously disappeared following a wellness retreat at which 2 people died; Fran, her sister who is searching for her and Kate, who co ran the retreat with her therapist husband Tom。 I enjoyed the very different characters of the 3 women, with all their problems。 I did see a lot of the twists coming (maybe I've read too many psychological thrillers!) but I enjoyed the story and it kept me entertained to the end。 。。。more

Jenna's story skips back in time to her time in the Gozo retreat and her relationships with Tom, his wife Kate and the other participants in the 'cleansing' routines that will take part in。 Was her mental state so low that she simply couldn't cope anymore?
